Get Around In Dubai By Using Public Transportation

Public Transportation

If you want to use local public transportation to get around Dubai, you’re in luck. You have two options to travel in Dubai. One includes the Dubai Metro, and the other is the Dubai Tram. Both options are safe and affordable.

Dubai Metro

The Dubai Metro is a train without a driver and is a quick, comfy, and cheap way to see the city. It has two main lines, Red and Green, that stop at significant places, like the Dubai Airport, Dubai Mall, and Burj Khalifa. The stations look like seashells and shine in the sun, making the ride even more fun.

How much is the Dubai Metro

The cost of the Dubai Metro depends on the number of zones you travel through and the type of card (or class of carriage) you use. Here’s a rough breakdown:

A trip within one zone starts at 4 AED with a standard Red Ticket, and 2 AED with a Silver Nol Card.

For two zones, it’s 6 AED with a Red Ticket and 3 AED with a Silver Nol Card.

For all zones, it’s 8.50 AED with a Red Ticket and 7.50 AED with a Silver Nol Card.

Dubai Tram

The Dubai Tram is another option to travel in Dubai. It started its operation in 2014 and goes through some of Dubai’s well-known areas, like the Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), Dubai Marina, and Al Sufouh. It’s also the first tram in the world to have platform screen doors for extra safety.

How much is the Dubai Tram

The Dubai Tram operates within one zone, so fares are based on the type of ticket or card you use.

Standard (Red) Ticket: 4 AED per ride.

Silver Nol Card: 3 AED per ride.

Gold Class ride (using a Gold Nol Card): 6 AED per ride.

A Nol Card is a smart card that can be used on various forms of public transport in Dubai, including the Metro, Tram, buses, and even water buses.

Easy Way To Travel Inside Dubai

The Metro and Tram are not just ways to get around but also part of the fun of visiting Dubai. They are easy to use, go to most places you’ll want to see, and come by frequently so you don’t have to wait for long.
